The main devices that comprise semiconductor integrated circuits are covered in a clear manner accessible to the wide range of scientific and engineering disciplines that are impacted by this technology. Catering to a wider audience is becoming increasingly important as the field of electronic materials and devices becomes more interdisciplinary, with applications in biology, chemistry and electro-mechanical devices to name a few becoming more prevalent. Updated and state-of-the-art advancements are included along with emerging trends in electronic devices and their applications. In addition, an appendix containing the relevant physical background will be included to assist readers from different disciplines and provide a review for those more familiar with the area. Readers of this book can expect to derive a solid foundation for understanding modern electronic devices and also be prepared for future developments and advancements in this far-reaching area of science and technology.
If you finish reading one on your trip, it is much simpler and cheaper! If you download only electronic textbooks, it will be much easier to carry them home and back to class. You can even load all of your books to the phone that you already carry with you anyway.
This allows you to keep your entire library in your pocket, so your textbooks will be available to you wherever you are. This would allow you to study anytime you have a few minutes free, such as waiting in line at a coffee shop. Unlike print books, eBooks borrowed from the library will never incur late fees.
Source 3. There Are No Late Fees for Library eBooks If you borrow a physical book from the library and forget to return it, you will be charged a late fee. Many libraries also now offer eBook loans in addition to their print book offerings.
You don't have to return them by any due date—instead, their licenses will simply expire on your device. You will never be hit with a surprise late fee for digital loans. You either have to find a physical dictionary or pull up your phone or tablet to look it up.

An electronic copy would probably alleviate this. Cannot view it on Kindle cloud reader or on PC. I can only read it from my phone. How stupid is that?
If you could only afford one electronics text, this is it! I've reviewed over 40 texts for our library acquisition clients, who can afford only 4 in many cases. Boylestad always makes the top three, and with this 11th edition, I can say with confidence that ALL the kinks have been worked out. Most every other text starts out WAY too fast, and still has numerous, frustrating errors. But that's not the major plus.
Boylestad is a master teacher and storyteller. The picture of that lonely copper electron sitting out in it's own shell with gangs of family members in the adjacent shell will never leave you! His 12th edition of circuit analysis, for example, starts at the High School or tech level, yet still gives enough technical detail for use in Engineering courses Introductory Circuit Analysis 12th Edition.
If you are at MIT working on your PhD in Electronics Engineering, you'll not find a lot of matrix calculus, linear algebra and dynamic systems analysis using differential equations, because Boylestad targets his teaching to both self study and technology courses, and assumes you're starting at the beginning.
However, if you ever want to teach, you should still study this, because his approach is a model for explaining difficult concepts with wonderful examples that you finally "get" at a gut level. I guarantee as an Engineer myself , you'll grasp concepts more intuitively here even if you are very advanced.
Perhaps the best and most unique feature are the two authors' ability to describe, step by step, what a circuit is doing and why.
You learn early on that voltage is a type of information signal, and you can extend the detailed descriptions to many other circuits almost immediately, because you REALLY GET the basics.
They spend a lot of time on timers and op-amps, for example, as backbones of many IC strategies.
