Shelves: nonfic-misc Goodreads is not really the place for diet book reviews that would be site , but I finished this book, so what the hell. I even added the cover photo because it didn't have one! I read this book not because I need to diet but because I'm tired of people chastising me for not eating breakfast. For years I've managed my weight by skipping breakfast and not eating until lunchtime noon or later ; besides this, I eat normally and don't leave out entire food groups or deprive myself. Kindle Edition Verified download. Thankfully The 8 Hour Diet is not another restrictive diet or the equivalent of get rich in three days while watching TV. That is a long sentence that basically says: I have been right there with everyone believing, even telling others, that you need to have a good breakfast. I have told people eating an early good breakfast gets the metabolism started helping with weight loss. Clearly that was advice based on bad information. This book is about being balanced.
It shows you how and why creating a healthy reasonable eating regime including daily fasting periods is very both very healthy and helps lose weight without changing your diet.
It suggests a very reasonable implementation approach. An approach that if followed to is most likely to lead to a sustained healthy lifestyle.
I have tried numerous short term diets that, as suggested here were successful in losing the weight and miserable failures because I gained it all back and then some. I have also tried numerous long term lifestyle changes that were just too intrusive and not sustainable.
I am quite enthusiastic about this new approach. I rarely write reviews, but I was terribly disappointed with this book. I own the hardback of The 8 Hour Diet and was reading it just before I left on a long trip.
Thought downloading this version would give me the highlights so dragging a hard copy across the country wouldn't be necessary.
Second, there was very little helpful information. A simple google search on "8 hour diet" yields more info. Third, it is highly overpriced for what is essentially a booklet. Seriously unhappy with this download. This is a quick read with valuable information. The 8 hour diet does work. So why 4 instead of 5 stars? I find it very irritating to read anything that is so much in need of proofreading and copy editing.
This is one of those books. One or two mistakes I can understand. Multiple errors throughout the book, not so understanding. And sorry, a low price is no excuse for sloppy writing. I would ask the author to please find someone who will actually read and correct this for grammar or carefully re-do it himself. Then it will be worth 5 stars.
This book explains how to have a reasonable healthy lifestyle but not extreme. It includes eating modestly and exercising reasonably. This is a book that many people can use and apply to their lives. I would recommend it. Didn't work for me I felt so sick and weak.
