Deuteronomy 18:20-22; Jeffery’s Story

We have break from False Prophet Ronald Weinlands #2 nonsense,……

Well, Ron’s break was shorter than he promised.  New posting of his reposted July 9, but this post is pinned.  So the repost of Ron’s latest appears below this one.  And this ends my “inset” comment.

…..with a guest post written by Jeffery, a former PKG elder over the Florida area.  Jeffery has participated in the comment section on this blog since late last year.  His resignation email was republished here

Here is Jeffery’s story:

First, I would like to take this moment to thank Mike for this opportunity to present my experience with the notorious Ronald Weinland and “his” church known as CoG-PKG. I also want to thank Mike for his website and all the information he has incorporated into his blog which was a great benefit to me in making my decision to leave CoG-PKG.

I have a history with the Worldwide Church of God that began in 1973. I was a devoted member up to the moment when WCG changed the doctrine of keeping the Sabbath and Holy Days. The year was 1994. It was not until 2001 that I had a growing desire to find the church that I once knew. Of course, this was all done through the Internet. However, I did not make a choice until 2007. My first encounter was with the Restored Church of God led by David Pack. This lasted only a few months. I rejected this church because I found it to be too demanding on one’s life. This frustrated me so I continue my search on the Internet.

I came across Ronald Weinland’s website just after my experience with David Pack.  At first, I was not impressed with Ron’s website. I just wrote it off as being one of those nutty doomsday preachers, not realizing I was correct in my assumption. But eventually I decided to read both of his books.

You have to understand that I was desperate and looking for anything that resembled Mr. Armstrong’s teachings. Because of this desire to be a part of the church again, there was enough of what I recognized of Mr. Armstrong’s teachings that led me to CoG-PKG. I was then hooked and proceeded to become more involved.

Eventually I was able to attend with the Florida group. There were many problems with this group. Such as excessive drinking on the Sabbath and an elder who was a hard core controlling individual and encouraged the excessive drinking as a means to control the younger members who knew no better. I took issue with this and confronted Ron and Johnny about this matter. The next thing I knew I was ordained an elder and took over the affairs of the Florida group. Did this affect me? Yes it did! I become enthralled with the idea of being an elder in God’s Church! To clarify, I always had the desire to be a minister and now, in my pride, I was one!! So, for a period of five years I ran the affairs of the Florida group. Also, I met and had several social engagements with Ron, Laura, Johnny and Myrtle in Florida and Ohio. They knew me and I knew them.

So what led to my departure from CoG-PKG?

Let me interject this first. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management and Organizational Structure and Behavior. The majority of my career has been in senior management in municipal government. What is the purpose of this information?

To begin, I started to take notice of the lack of qualified individuals in leadership positions. I am referring to individuals who were handpicked (favoritism) by Ron Weinland for leadership positions without having the qualifications or proper training for the position. It became obvious that Ron was the sole authority figure as he did not allow any ordained individuals to have any decisive authority regarding local matters without his prior approval.

That was the first red flag, in that, I had to question why was I an elder and for what purpose? Actually there was a purpose and that was to report to Ron of any bad behavior of a member — in other words, a tattletale! This went against the grain of all my education and experience in government along with my experience in church structure that I was accustomed to in Worldwide Church of God. I came to the conclusion that I was dealing with a micromanaging dictator! This did not set well with me to say the least. This was the beginning of my taking a different view of what CoG-PKG was all about.

However, let me say this: some may think that I was out of line because this was Ron Weinland’s church and I was overstepping my bounds. Not so. I understand government and I know how it functions. CoG-PKG, in my opinion, had all the trappings of a cult! This was the moment when the rose colored glasses hit the ground and shattered!!

But the real failure of Ron Weinland was his second failure of Christ’s return in 2012. I can remember clearly sitting on my patio wondering “why” this event did not happen! Well, to make a long story short, I gave it another year. However, the thrill was gone and I started looking deeper into all the doctrinal changes from what I learned in WCG that Ron claimed to have authority to change.

Let’s start with the proclaiming of being a prophet.  I need to interject here that the questioning of the claim of being a prophet started when I was looking up something in the OT that I came across the eighteenth chapter of Deuteronomy verses 20-22. Let me tell you this! Those verses were burned into my mind and ended the influence of Ron Weinland immediately! Do I think this was an intervention of God? Absolutely!! For me, it was the absolute end of CoG-PKG!! Also, I scrutinized this matter of claiming to be the two witnesses and I was appalled at myself for believing such heresy! At this point, I was done!

Another element in the decision to leave CoG-PKG was the court transcripts of Ron Weinland’s trial. The only two transcripts that I read were the government’s opening statement and the memorandum of sentencing and that was all it took!! Case closed!! It is over and done with!! However, I had a bigger problem to deal with and that was on how to make my exit.

My exit was very trying for me, in that, I knew the effect it would have on the Florida group and my wife Diane. This was very difficult for me to deal with and I knew I had to go. But, as fate would have it, my wife noticed that I no longer read the postings and was very inattentive during sermons and basically ignored everything about CoG-PKG. So, the day came when my wife sat down with me and asked me if I still believed Ron and Laura were who they claimed to be. My answer to her was NO! We had a very long discussion and I told her I would be resigning after Pentecost. Well, my wife did not agree with that and simply stated, “you need to go now”. I jumped at the opportunity and composed my resignation letter and emailed it out to Johnny without any hesitation!!  Do I think that this was God’s intervention again? Absolutely! I was freed to leave CoG-PKG with my wife’s blessings!! BAM, I was out and gone!!!!

In closing, I am sure some of you who knew me or of me are asking yourselves, why is Jeffery posting at this site? This is a fair question to ask. I will tell you this, I strongly believe I am to do this for the reason that a voice must be heard from a source that is credible to some members of CoG-PKG. Is there an element of anger from me? Yes there is, to a point. I speak for myself and from my experience, the Weinlands are charlatans and are heartless to the highest degree! As I see myself, it is my duty to speak out against them and I will do so! Why? Because if the voices are silent then they (Weinlands) will continue in their deceitful activities destroying spiritual lives and marriages for their own selfish gains unchecked!

Jeffery, thank you for sharing your story here on my blog.

I would like to add my own emphasis to what I feel is the main reason for Jeffery’s departure from PKG — a simple read of Deuteronomy 18:20-22 and a reality check.  Ron prophesied, it didn’t happen, he’s a false prophet and you shouldn’t listen to him.  That alone should be enough to choose your exit.  One should not need a website like this with court transcripts from his criminal trial or evidence that he falsified government documents even more than his tax returns (Audra’s marriage certificate).  That stuff is icing on the cake.

It’s not easy to digesting that what you believed is not true.  Grappling with the decision to leave may be slow.  It took Jeffery well over a year to transition out of PKG.  This website is here to whatever extent it can smooth that transition.  But the decision to leave needs to be yours.

Ron’s House of Cards

Monday, April 29th, 2013

The following was left in a comment on the previous post.

Greetings,

It is with deep regret that I have to inform everyone that Ramona Weinland, Scott and Kris Cameron have chosen to leave the Church of God – PKG and have thereby chosen to leave the fellowship of God’s people.  They are disfellowshipped from God’s Church.

Beth Bucheit
Sr. Elder the COG-PKG

I don’t have verification but it seems authentic.  If true, it calls Steve Dalrymple’s position in PKG into question, as he has been the Cincinnati senior elder for some time and before that one of Ron’s flunkies so if a recently promoted female senior elder is doing this …..

So the list of possible but not necessarily confirmed defectors includes:

  • Ramona Weinland, Ron’s own mother
  • Kris Cameron, Ron’s sister and senior elder
  • Scott Cameron, Ron’s brother in law and senior elder
  • Ralph Dowd, long time member and senior elder
  • April Combs, long time member
  • Hope Henson, long time member
  • Donna Kautz, long time member
  • Chris Little, Ron’s son-in-law (though the legality of his marriage to Audra is in doubt considering how Ron handled their marriage certificate)

These are all long time PKG members, and include Ron’s family and senior elders in PKG.  I hope this list is true, and will soon expand to include more from PKG.

Wonderful News

Monday, January 11th, 2010

xHWA over at As Bereans Did is reporting that one of his relatives who was in PKG has escaped Ron’s clutches.  While I won’t say too much in order to respect the privacy of his relative, I will say that this individual is not one of the recent converts brought in by Ron’s apocalyptic Google Ad campaign for his book, but rather has been a member for several years.

I won’t attempt to describe how happy he is about this news, click on over and read for yourself.  And if you are this person, congratulations on your escape.  Hopefully the aftermath will be easy for you — feel free to jump in and join the conversation if you like.

Ron Vs the CoG Leaders

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

At a couple of points during Insane Lying False Prophet Ronald Weinland’s sermon last Saturday, he took pot shots at some of the leaders of competing CoGs.  He dug up some old copies of his News Watch magazines from 1998 and 1999.  From the sermon:

[Reading from page 5 of the Jan ’99 issue of News Watch]”The large organizations will no longer be functioning as they are today.  On the contrary, even now they are nearing their end.”

[Commenting extemporaneously] Now people can mock and make fun of that.  1999 – Hah, they’re nearing their end.  A lot truer today than it was then.  How near is near?  Ten years?  Eleven years?  Is that not near?  Amazing how human beings are sometimes, now haughty human beings are.  Some who like to poke fun at and make fun of some of what is said in one area of the thunders about certain leaders of the church.  It’s coming.  It’s coming.  In God’s time.  According to God’s will.

The “area of the thunders” Ron referred to is the first phase of the fifth thunder of the 6th seal.   During the first phase of the fifth thunder, Rod Meredith, Richard Ames (both of Living CoG), Gerald Flurry (Philadelphia CoG), David Pack (Restored Cog), and John Ritenbaugh (CGG) were to die early on.  This is all described on page 107-108 of 2008 – God’s Final Witness and offered as a test of himself as a prophet “How much more specific can one be to show that he is either of God, and indeed His prophet, or someone who has clearly stepped over the line to be dealt with by God in a speedy manner. Time will tell! And, you don’t have long to wait!

As described in 2008 – God’s Final Witness “This phase of the Fifth Thunder is one of my own choosing, which God has granted me as part of His own will and purpose for the Church”.  Well, it’s over 3 years since the book was released in November of 2006, and over a year since the 6th seal ended for the second time, and we’re still waiting as none of these accursed CoG leaders are dead.  Not mocking or making fun of, just pointing out something for those who have eyes to see.  God didn’t grant Insane Lying False Prophet Ronald Weinland anything.

Ron wasn’t done.  He took additional pot shots at John Ritenbaugh for counting Pentecost a week differently a few years.  And then he went on to mention a “minister from Missouri”.

Ron started his globe trotting with a trip to Europe in November of 1999 using Steve Dalrymple’s air miles.   Ron mentioned that during that trip he used Benjamin and Grace’s home in greater London to conduct a Bible study which was attended by a number* of people including Phillip Burman who is still one of Ron’s elders.  The group in the UK now is fewer than 50, most of whom joined in 2007 and 2008 after Ron started promoting his book, so I doubt that very many of those attending Ron’s Bible study went with PKG.  Any friendships that Benjamin and Grace had with others in that small group are now ended by edict of Sheriff Ron.  * (According to Saturday’s sermon, 19 people were at the meeting in London in 1999.  According to the sermon of Dec 5, 1999 there were 12 people including 3 children.)

Ron continued on in last week’s sermon:

“It was at this time [1999] that we invited that minister from Missouri to be there during Thanksgiving while we were away.  And while we were away, the mice did play.  Because they started hatching up division while we were gone, while we were in Europe.  And they began to spread things around a bit here and there.  And they began to talk amongst themselves.  About what I was doing and I was their minister and I should be there and I shouldn’t be anyplace else and I shouldn’t go anyplace else, because he’s our minister.  And basically he should do what we tell him to do.  Little did he know what God was

While Ron was in Europe, he missed two sermons.  On November 20, 1999 Al Buchanan delivered a sermon titled “Children of the Light” to “the Church of God” in Toledo.  Al Buchanan was the minister of the Belleville CoG (a suburb of St. Louis in Illinois).  By all accounts, Al is not an empire builder.  In fact a few weeks after this last Feast of Tabernacles he stepped down, stating that he felt his little CoGlet was encouraging division within Armstrongism.  This just points up Ron’s paranoia.  Ron, just because you’re plotting doesn’t mean that everyone else is.

On the other hand, it was just over two months after Ron’s first European trip as a prophet that he seized control of the Church of God Inc from its lay board during January and February of 2000. Ron the cat swallowed the church whole and spit out the mice.

During Ron’s sermon this past week, he quoted from various issues of News Watch.  Here’s one potshot against CoGs that he didn’t quote.  From the June-July 1999 issue on page 3 (336kB PDF Download):

Today some believe they are to give a warning witness to Israel.  What a puny effort we see.  If and when God gives a witness to Israel, more than He already has, you will know it.  Israel has already received the height of a warning witness given through the Philadelphia period of time, and they rejected it.  That is a witness against them!

The next witness will be obvious. It will be when God needs no Church to help sponsor nor support itThere will be such miraculous events accomplished at that time that much free publicity will be given. The work of that witness will consist of such newsworthy events that it will be widely reported in this world.  There will be no need for an organization to sponsor such efforts.

That future witness to Israel will be one that reminds them of the earlier witness they refused during the Philadelphia era.  It will tell them why they are then suffering once the physical tribulation has begun.  It will also be a message to the whole world of what is soon to follow – the Kingdom of God on earth with the soon coming of Jesus Christ as King of kings.  That job has been set aside for two to accomplish by the power of God.  No church organization is going to do it, and no individual is going to be able to set himself up as God’s apostle to do it. It is for the two who are yet to be sent by God.

Ron sure doesn’t skimp on his irony pills.  Ron, here you have it.  It’s all your fault that the Great Tribulation hasn’t started.  You don’t need the COG-PKG.  Turn it over to Johnny and strike out on your own exercising your awesome Witness powers.  When you and Laura are on your way out of town to call down plagues on world capitols, Y’ALL can stop off to breathe fire on that nasty IRS special agent who keeps serving Audra with summonses.

Facebook Vs the Fiftieth “Truth”

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

False Prophet Ronald Weinland returned to the scene of earlier crimes (perhaps a figure of speech) in Erie Pennsylvania where he lived for about 7 years ending in 1994.  Next week the Spokesman Witness will be in Bloomington Illinois at a location to be announced in an email he failed to send out yet.

pastorsheriffronLast week, Ron announced that Benjamin and Grace had quit the church.  Today he announced that they were disfellowshipped because Benjamin sent out emails giving his side of the story.  Later on in the sermon, he let on that Benjamin was defrocked in part because he was on Facebook in defiance of Ron’s edict that elders should not be on it.  This was rather ironic given that Ron read from an old Newswatch critical of controlling ministers.  It also seems that Benjamin had an issue with the 50th “truth”, although he was ordained after Ron rolled out this nonsense in June of 2008.

But God is just cleaning the body.  Just as he cleaned the body in one great sweep in February of 2000 in Toledo and Detroit. Ron will not hesitate to tell people who disagree with him to leave.  God is cleansing the church right now, Ron can see it starting again.  I hope the wave is a tidal wave of people recognizing the false prophet for what he is.   Note: the cartoon came from an ex-member of COG-PKG, one who has not commented here.

Ron promises to deliver a profound revelation about the thunders in a future sermon .  I have a profound revelation about the thunders right now:  they did not happen during the Sixth Seal the way Ron said they would in the chapter “The Seventh Thunders of the 6th Seal”.  Just as his spiritual breath of fire on me has not resulted in my speedy death 50 weeks after he issued the curse.

As a side note, Aggie who comments here has reopened his Purple Hymnal blog with a reintroductory post.  Back when I was required to attend the Church of Herb, the hymnal was gray which dates myself for those in the know.  Best wishes to Aggie on the renewed blog and I hope he still drops by my blog occasionally.

Fiftieth Truth Plus

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

In ten days it will be the Last Great Day on which Ronald Weinland has promised to unveil his new truth which won’t be a separate truth but an addition to the 50th “Truth”.  During June of last year, I unveiled Ron’s 50th untruth the same day he announced there was one but the members would have to wait until the Feast of Trumpets for the revelation, after which he officially announced it 3 months ahead of schedule.

I feel somewhat challenged to repeat my earlier performance.  However this time Ron has been unusually close-mouthed and his chief evangelist Johnny hasn’t let slip any clues either.

I’m going to throw out a speculation for the 50th untruth add-on. While those who were members of WCG when the first seal opened on December 17, 1994 and who were also COG-PKG members on the Feast of Trumpets 2008 were sealed, the other members are only promised “the opportunity to live on into a new age” (untruth #45).

My speculation is that those not eligible for the sealing but who are members as of a certain date will have special status as they “live on into the new era”, perhaps evangelists and elders in PKG or civil governors in the millennium.   Possible dates for this speculated cut-off date are:

  • Feast of Trumpets of 2009 {the 40th sabbath on which Ron was too sick to preach}
  • when the 2nd trumpet blows (“nukular” explosions),
  • or when the 5th trumpet blows (Germany conquers the US).

I suspect that there are many others who like recently exited member “Xer” are questioning all the failures and contradictions and Weinland needs to do something to keep the hook baited or his church will shrink back to the ex-WCG core who were members in 2007.

But this is only speculation.  I’m interested in any other ideas or opinions, which you may share as a comment.

My Demonic Powers

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

In February of last year, a couple who were drinking Weinland’s Flavor Aid at the time started a thread on a forum in New Zealand, posting as “discipleelohim” and “Anticipation of Peace”.  I say “at the time”, because a few months later they come to their senses and departed from PKG.

But the thread continued on with intermittent activity.  A few days ago, one of the forumites there reposted the poem that Kirrily wrote which I posted on Don’t Drink the Flavor Aid.  “ptr775” immediately responded

I know Kirrily personally, and therefore have a much greater perspective on that situation that you ever will, so so don’t even bother going there.

implying that there is some dark mysterious secret to her departure from PKG.  Makes you wonder what stories Deputy Wayne has been telling.

Kirrily took exception to that, reposting her analysis of “2008 God’s Final Witness“.  To which ptr775 started squawking Ron-speak, accusing her of being “anti-Christ” and other similar statements.  He ended with

These people are using you to spread their hate of the truth, {blather}

My, my.  I’ll bet that ptr775 has a string hanging out of his back, which if pulled and then released will retract slowly into his body as he recites Ron-isms.  If only I did have such powers to influence someone almost half-way around the world.  I could put these powers to lucrative use closer to home. 😀

For the record, I did not tell Kirrily what to write.  It was on her own initiative that she wrote the poem and the other material and offered it to me to publish.   If anyone is being “used”, it is I. Not that I mind — keep up the good work, Kirrily 😉  (as long as you feel the need).
