What memories. I gave tens of thousands back to members in the form of 3t as it felt like I was able to return some of their hard earned funds when needed. I got “snowflakes” from HQ telling me to stop giving so much away..ha. Thanks for the memory!

The story of Ananias and Sapphira was meant to be a joke on and slam against Peter who Luke as Paul’s buddy and Paul hated. Anyone in Paul and Luke’s community of believers would have laughed their asses off at the story of A and S. Here is a couple who said they would do one thing (give all) and did something else (held back) being preached to and punished by the Great Peter, who said he’d do one thing (never leave Jesus) and did another (fled) The irony would not be as lost on the original audience as it is on us today. Peter who denied Jesus was no more qualified to lead than Judas who betrayed him would be the theme of this tale of two church members.

Huh, the two witlesses as Ananias and Sapphira? But that doesn’t make sense, because a) they don’t answer to anyone else (not even, apparently, Armstrong’s God) and b) they’re not withholding money from their church, as they ARE “their church”. (All in the family, so to speak.) The penalty Ananias and Sapphira paid, was for NOT tithing (to the church), so applied to the PKGers, that means “the wages of sin is death” because “God’s way is the way of GIVE”! (“Giving to God” means tithing to the church.) That particularly horrible parable was always used in the WCG, in that exact context, to brow-beat members for withholding holy day offerings, special offerings, annual first tithe, “tithe of the tithe” of second tithe, and third tithe, every third year of seven.

Ananais and sapphira tried to trick their brethren and god also, and paid the penalty for their deceit and greed…..thats the point I made……Im implying that these two witlesses are representative of this only…….iam not sure how you have understood my post to mean but I hope that clarifys it.

Eh? The ministry never “shared” third tithe with the brethren who actually needed it — and that execrable little parable in Acts 5 was almost always given as the preamble, to a “special offering” service. “God’s way is the way of GIVE” and “the wages of sin is DEATH”, after all.

These two are “a type” of two witnesses they are the modern day ananais and sapphira, both witholding the portion that they had promised to share with their brethren, they are witnesses to mans deceit and greed..
