Sheriffing Ron

False Prophet Ronald Weinland spoke from the London UK area today.  Ron went into full-sheriffing mode this week on a visit to the home of his UK elder Benjamin Ikwueme.  The outcome  of this meeting was that Ron de-ordained Benjamin as one of his elders.   After the two witnesses left Ikwueme’s home and returned to their hotel, Mrs. Ikwueme called to say that they were quitting COG-PKG.  Perhaps the issue for Ron was that Benjamin kept his Facebook page despite Ron’s fatwa and edict that elders were not to be on it.  In his sermon on August 29 in which he strongly suggested that his members should not be on Facebook, Ron said:

That’s why I told the elders a long time ago to not be on those sites. Do you understand why I would have said something like that to elders a long time ago? Not to be on some of these open forums and so forth? If you don’t understand, think about it, pray about it and you’ll come to understand what’s healthier for the Church and why. And if it is good for elders to not do, I  wonder… hmmm, it might be good for us.

Or perhaps Benjamin did not come through with the 419 millionaires Weinland expected since ordaining Benjamin in September of 2008. 😉 Joking aside, I hope that Benjamin and Grace will soon be able to put PKG behind them and that they and their sons will recover from the cult.  And that they will reflect on their experience in PKG and avoid making the same mistake with another false prophet of which there are too many.

This trip has been an anniversary of a sort.  It was 10 years ago, in late November of 1999, that Ron and Laura started their false prophecy globetrotting with a trip to the Belgium and Netherlands using air miles donated to them by Steve Dalrymple.  While on that trip, Ron and Laura went to Paris and then London on or about November 25, 1999 and met the Ikwuemes.  So Benjamin and Grace have had a long association with PKG.

Ron promises some timeshifting sermons to be delivered leading up to the fast on February 6.  He’ll need to explain why the Great Tribulation has still not arrived well after the first trumpet blew for the second time.

Ron recycled one of his “News Watch” articles from the May 1998 issue. Looks like Ron’s not going to write another book, since he stated that everything in “2008 – God’s Final Witness” would happen exactly as written. And the timing would be right on target.  Except for the 8 month delay between timelines which was qualified in the book as “a marginal 6-month window of time”. So does that mean:

  • The US will no longer be an independent nation by June 21, 2009?
  • The five specific ministers named as the first phase of the fifth thunder of the 6th seal who are still alive will indeed die during the 6th seal which ended on Feb 2, 2008 Nov 14, 2008?
  • The economy is the 4th thunder and not the 1st trumpet?
  • where “2008 – GFW” describes the 1st trumpet as “When we are told that a third of all plant life will be destroyed, that is exactly what it means.” that that’s exactly what it means, and that it’s not talking about the economy?
  • That somewhere is an archive of interviews not arranged by Ron’s publicist?  Since “2008 GFW” states “Radio and television interviews will become more the norm as curiosity, news, controversy, and fear increase in proportion to the growing intensity of these thunders.”  This statement was in the chapter entitled “The Seven Thunders of the 6th Seal” which ended on Feb 2, 2008 Nov 14, 2008.

cartoon-vulture-nasty-review-hurtful-writerAnd where “2008 GFW” says:

The fire proceeding out of their mouth is symbolic of the power to pronounce exacting judgments upon anyone who would do them harm. Whatever the two witnesses pronounce will come to pass.

does it mean that I died a speedy death shortly after the Spokesman Witness pronounced his curse on me 49 weeks ago? That makes me so special. Not only am I a vulture picking on Ron’s putrid corpse, I’m a zombie vulture picking on Ron’s putrid corpse. How unusual. Somehow I manage to avoid picking on my own corpse and continue picking on Ron’s.

Good on you both Grace and Benjamin – you have a hard slog of recovery ahead of you – but you will be all right.

  • graham says:

Well done Benjamin and Grace -It will not be a hard recovery now you are free ! Maybe the few remaining UK residents will also see the light !

  • Debbie says:

Sherriff Ron is probably hoping that this punishment will serve to keep the other members in line – Facebook or not, Ronnie has shown his true colors as “It’s do as I say, not as I do” – This is the real Ronnie “showing up” by his actions – Controlling and abusive

My speculation is that some members are starting to question out loud – I suspect some have been questioning in their minds for some time – They may be able to ‘fool’ parts of their conscious thinking into believing Ronnie’s Crap – however, the reality of the lack of unfulfilled prophecies is probably causing a lot of conflict in their minds

Now those questions are being brought out into the open & Ron has no answers – because Ron is a ‘lying, false profit’ – so his response is punishment – How much more unlike the biblical Jesus Ron is –
The biblical Jesus’ approach was the very opposite, as he responded out of a ‘knowledge’ that all things were in ‘God’s hands’ – he didn’t punish his disciples for asking questions or for making mistakes – I see more clearly that the globe-trotting which Ron does is to make sure the members far & wide are still ‘drinking the flavor aid’ – It certainly is not to ‘minister’ (serve) them

From my own short experience in PKG, I know that some of us were drawn there by a sincere desire to please God as we sought God – and not the result of a fear of the world ending (as Ron has said) – It did not take me long to be able to say to myself “This isn’t it either” and to make a hasty exit

I hope that perhaps Benjamin & Grace will come here and share their experience, and their sharing will be part of the recovery process – (rather than just going off quietly – that is what Ron would like you to do ) – Bring the truth out into the open – There are many kind & gentle people here who will welcome you as they have welcomed others & myself

Thanks again, Mike, for this safe place

I looked through my notes and made the following update to my post:

This trip has been an anniversary of a sort. It was 10 years ago, in late November of 1999, that Ron and Laura started their false prophecy globetrotting with a trip to the Belgium and Netherlands using air miles donated to them by Steve Dalrymple. Yes, the Ikwuemes would be welcomed here. But that will be their decision. Just hope my small joke about the “419 millionaires” didn’t put them off. That’s a joke about Ron’s money grubbing ways and not a reflection on Benjamin who seems to be an accomplished individual as best I can tell.

  • AggieAtheist says:

“Ron went into full-sheriffing mode this week on a visit to the home of his UK elder Benjamin Ikwueme. The outcome of this meeting was that Ron de-ordained Benjamin as one of his elders.”

Being Cushites as they were, it’s not surprising they didn’t last long as elders. As a matter of fact, I’m surprised the Fields are still ordained.

My apologies to anyone offended by the image I have linked to; but as we are all well-aware, Ronald Weinland and the CoG-PKG holds fast to British-Israelism, an outdated and thoroughly disproven theology, that has been debunked by DNA and genetic evidence. That doesn’t stop Weinland and his followers from “just accepting that it’s true” however.

  • Steve says:

Don’t worry Mike, i met Benjamin once and he had a great sense of humour. I hope he manages to stay out and not be tempted to go back to Ron as for example by “fluke” somethin bad happened (natural disaster etc), some ex followers might join him again because of their lack of knowledge which is what he thrives upon. Good luck Benjamin…you are way better off.

  • Mike (DDTFA) says:

Aggie, I have to disagree with you there. I’m certain that Ron was well aware that Benjamin and Curtis Fields are “Cushites” when he ordained them, never any indication that he’s blind to anything besides his own faults. It’s not clear to me that British-Israelism as adopted by Armstrongism is racist — after all it excludes many whites including Germans, eastern Europeans, and Russians as well.

While Weinland can be accused of many failings, I don’t find racism to be one of them.

  • Matt says:

Oooo does that count as some serious elder-banishing? That is what I would do – single one out from the herd and burn him down good, “pour encourager les autres”. All these delays are caused by all the backsliding and social networking, that much is obvious.

Next, I predict some fresh carrots and promises of front-row seats in the reign of jezus on earth. We’ve had the stick, now for some sweeteners to keep the flock feeling that they are extra-special in the eyes of god.

By the way, if it comes true, I am denouncing Mike as a false prophet and schisming off as the NDDTFACOG – and I shall curse him to emanate pure evil after his morning coffee, especially if he ate mexican food the night before. I shall shoot fire out of my ears, and for a mere 3% of your yearly income (after tax) you will be picked up by stretch-firey chariot and driven to the VIP section of heaven.

“And the timing would be right on target. Except for the 8 month delay between timelines which was qualified in the book as ‘a marginal 6-month window of time'”.

This, I assume, would also include the shortening of the actual Great Tribulation from 3-1/2 years to 2-1/2 years (+/-)?
I had thought I had read that Ron stating he “would not” do like Ms. White did and continue to change the times he had pronounced as there would be no need, being Gods Final Witness and all. But you know ol Ron, changes a lot, changes his story, changes his explanation, changes his interpreation of what he has said, changed his timeline, changed the length of the Great Tribulation, change – change – change…

Some people want to be sheep, they want it, being led by someone greater than yourself, chosen of God, is a good warm feeling.
That “person” was/is Jesus Christ. But to some that personage is just a bit to fuzzy and incorpreal… they need a physical living breathing human being to take the job of “Colonel – mouth piece” of God and simply follow him and ergo follow God.
Why? People are insecure. Some are even willing to pay for that security blanket. It all sounds silly to us, but these people want a physical God-Man to lead them.
    Go figure?

  • Dill Weed says:

    Heh-Heh-Heh

Watching Ron dance in the corner he has painted himself into is gettin more entertaining each week. And the more he talks about why he is still a prophet and the more he tries to explain and revise the more people will wise up. Hopefully, Benjamin and Grace will make an appearance here and share the inner workings of PKG! I think I talk to him on Facebook.

Matt – once again, CLASSIC!!! Love your posts!!

I hope Benjamin and Grace do appear here. I wonder if Ron receives commission from MySpace?

  • Whisper says:

It just occurs that we are almost at the December 14th, 2009 waypoint in our horrible trudge through the 3-1/2 Year “g”reat Tribulation. That’s 28-1/2% complete of these truely horrible years, and what a year it was. It saw Obama become the non-president of a non-nation, it saw the 1st Trumpet blow and 1/3 of all the tree’s & grass’s in an undisclosed portion of America die off thereby giving all of us in on the “know” as to why those 10’s of thousands in America (and some in Canada) died off. The poor souls, may the rest in peace now. That’s not even mentioning all the livestock that died and caused that huge food shortage scare, that was a close one.
France I hear fell into the Atlantic just last week, and Japan was attacked by some kind of Giant Lizard that beat up Tokyo something aweful. Don’t even get me started on what happened to Australia… those poor souls, now in a better place I’m just sure. And yet we still have 61-1/2% of the time to go. On the bright side Ron’s house has not been obliterated, but that is probably how it should be, his Prophet is inside. Well I had best sign off for now and go scampering through the war torn streets to find some scraps to eat and wood to burn, utilities have gone out when the power plant blew up… 2-1/2 years to go, how much more can we take? 😉

  • AggieAtheist says:

“It’s not clear to me that British-Israelism as adopted by Armstrongism is racist “

The readers will note that Mike and I are from very different church “eras”; in the “Get the Church back on TRACK!” years there was a LOT of racism, inspired directly by British-Israelism; if ethnic, you were expected to marry someone from your own “tribe”, and African-Americans were on the absolute lowest rung of the totem pole. (Ask Felix Taylor if you don’t believe me.) In the two congregations I attended, one was in a multi-ethnic city, and the other was in the “Ephraimite” capital of Canada. In the multi-ethnic city where I attended, I guarantee you I can count on one hand, the number of ethnic families we had, in an extremely large (consolidated) congregation. In the second congregation, there were absolutely NO members of any ethnic minorities whatsoever, at least none that were not Caucasian.

As for Witless Weinland, who knows? Only someone on the inside can say for sure, how much he holds fast to British-Israelism. (Which I know you’re not defending, Mike, but it might be read by some that way.)

“I had thought I had read that Ron stating he “would not” do like Ms. White did and continue to change the times he had pronounced as there would be no need, being Gods Final Witness and all.”

That was during Weinland’s April 7, 2008 interview on the Mike McConnell Show, in case you were wondering where you remembered it from. Audio of the show is here, although HotlinkFiles is giving me “Too many connections” right now. Maybe PKG members revisiting their False Prophet’s past predictions?? LOLOLOLOL! You will also note that this is the first inkling Weinland gave of moving the dates of the First Trumpet from the First (Failed) Timeline of the End, ahead ever-so-slightly. (I have noted in the transcript where he did this.)

Anyone know if Mike’s ever had Witless Weinland back on for Timeline Two-and-a-half? Third time’s the charm, Rotten Ronnie!

  • AggieAtheist says:

Here’s the exact quote from the audio file that Whisper is referring to:

Mike McConnell: But but at the same time you then have to you would have to agree that since the writing of the bible we’ve always had people who thought they were living in that time.

Ronald Weinland: Exactly. That’s a problem and [laughs] Look look look at how often people have said things there you can go back and find dates by religious leaders from some organizations who to this day have huge followings uh look at the seventh-day adventists have how many million seven eight million people uh maybe more but I think it’s seven or eight million people worldwide. And a huge following and her predictions were wrong and yet look it just kept going. She didn’t say that she was a false prophet or anything everything just kept going. And so we see different ages here where people have done those things especially around times of disaster or war uh ministers get out here and start talking about why you know about what god’s told them that this is the end time and so forth and the reason being is because the bible talks a lot about an end time. And so uh–

  • Mike (DDTFA) says:

With regard to “church eras”, yes in the time I was required to attend WCG one was expected to date and marry within one’s own race. I’ve read Greg Doudna’s book about the quotas that Ambassador College in the 70’s had on blacks and they were careful to have an exact one-for-one between male and female coeds. But later on things changed, during Tkach’s era IIRC. My brother-in-law related that after an announcement was made relaxing the policy that a young non-white lady was inundated with calls for dates that evening. Maybe that didn’t happen in the congregation Aggie attended.

No, I’m not defending British-Israelism — I think it’s a pile of smelly droppings. On the other hand, you should be careful about projecting everything you experienced in Armstrongism onto Weinland. In particular, there is one inter-racial couple in PKG involving the son of an elder and the ceremony was performed by Weinland. So I doubt that race had even the slightest involvement in Ron’s defrocking of Benjamin.

I’m not going to accuse the False Prophet of racism as the evidence for that is quite lacking. There’s plenty of other stuff with better evidence of which to accuse him, so I’m not going to call him a racist so he can blather about his critics who can’t get it right.

Note: the Mike McConnell interviews are linked on the “Sermons” page on this blog. Look for a link to the “Sermons” page up in the banner.

Whisper – love your post!!! Here in Australia, the horror is just so intense. It’s good we still have internet though – oh and yes, FACEBOOK 😉

  • AggieAtheist says:

“My brother-in-law related that after an announcement was made relaxing the policy that a young non-white lady was inundated with calls for dates that evening. Maybe that didn’t happen in the congregation Aggie attended.”

If it did, it would have been long after my family was gone from the church. There were certainly no announcements of that nature made in Canada between 1994 and 1996, to my knowledge! Although my knowledge of 1996 is more sporadic, as our attendance dropped off sharply that year.

And, oh yes, the congregation in question would have had to recruit some ethnic minorities in order for that to happen, too.

It’s the same way with the two Gracie congregations that are near me now; I’m sure they probably do not have any (official) British-Israel policies; but as current Gracie member “Larry” on AW attests, individual Gracie members can and still do preach British-Israelism, with the church’s, if not blessing, at least its blindness. And the two Gracie congregations I currently speak of are 100% whitebread.

With the exception of possibly one minority-targeting congregation in Toronto, I would be willing to wager that most congregations in Canada are similar (although drastically reduced in size and “splendour” from what they were — one congregation that used to be consistently around 300, even with regular disfellowshipments, is now reduced to just over a dozen “old-timers”), and that the members have similar “openly secret” feelings towards British-Israelism as does Larry.

Which is getting far, far, from the topic of Weinlandism. But, oh yes, let us not forget the headquarters of the most blatantly white supremacist CoG in Canada is masterminded out of Toronto — yes, that’s right, folks, the British-Israel Church of God — whose Pastor General is none other than the Lebanese Peter Salemi.

    I couldn’t make this shit up if I tried……

“No, I’m not defending British-Israelism — I think it’s a pile of smelly droppings. Eh, it was a bit of facetiousness on my part, inspired largely by the situations I describe above. Bottom line, British-Israelism breeds its own special insanity, and racism is just an unfortunate byproduct of that insanity, not the whole potato, so to speak.

‘I saw a picture of about 40 of Rons younger members at the 2007 feast (wish I had copied it ) All white with white shining teeth -using bleach !”

Only 40?! LOLOLOLOL oh how the “mighty” churches of “god” have fallen! 😀 LOL @ “all white with shining white teeth” — yep now THAT’S the church I remember!!

  • Mike (DDTFA) says:

If it did, it would have been long after my family was gone from the church. There were certainly no announcements of that nature made in Canada between 1994 and 1996, to my knowledge! Although my knowledge of 1996 is more sporadic, as our attendance dropped off sharply that year.

My brother-in-law was present in Big Sandy when Joe Sr delivered his “Christmas Eve” sermon reprising the Atlanta sermon the week prior in which he opened the First Seal. But my brother-in-law did not attend for more than a few weeks after that. So Aggie, the announcement relaxing the rules on inter-racial dating was made while you were still a member. If your congregation was “white bread”, then the announcement would have been superfluous.

I’ll agree with the “insanity” word for Ron. He defined himself to be insane by not following through on his “If by Pentecost …” declaration.

  • AggieAtheist says:

“So Aggie, the announcement relaxing the rules on inter-racial dating was made while you were still a member. If your congregation was “white bread”, then the announcement would have been superfluous.”

Yup. But then the Canadian church was always way more conservative than the Americans…..

  • Mike (DDTFA) says:

But then the Canadian church was always way more conservative than the Americans….

Or a lot less diverse. Not that it was that diverse when I attended. Off the top of my head, I remember two black families in the local area.

I remember attending either the FoT or the DoUB in Big Sandy in the early 60’s (yes, back then we assembled for the entire DoUB). The blacks were segregated in a separate area. When I asked, I was told that was state law.

  • AggieAtheist says:

When I say “conservative”, I mean that we were more likely to go way, way, WAY beyond “the letter of the law” to be godly; ex., the many many many sermons against white sugar and refined white flour, etcetera. Or the over-zealous members who proudly eschewed coffee because of the “your body is a temple” verse(s). (Um, yeah, but we were supposed to be getting all new spirit bodies, so who cares?) The women who went beyond the “always wear fashion that is 15 years out of date”, and ended up looking like extras from Pleasantville — in the 1980s. (Can’t forget the ever-popular buns and braids. They didn’t quite go the whole hog anabaptist route with the bonnets and headcoverings — but hats were very popular, in my day.) Or the “plain buttons” rule. (No fancy buttons that looked like jewellery.)

None of these things were mandated by Headquarters. But they were all “unwritten” rules that, if not followed, determined whether or not a minister’s visit was imminent!

    Can’t forget the minister’s visits either……

  • Peter Salemi says:

I guess you guys know something I dont. I did not know i was a white supremacist? Lebonese? And all this time I thought my parents were from Italy! Do your homework before you comment about people and organizations. Peter S

  • Mike (DDTFA) says:

Well. Peter. Seems more than one person is prone to sweeping generalizations. I don’t know who “you guys” are as it was only Aggie who lumped you in with white supremacists and made you Lebanese. If you had bothered to read the rest of the comments in that post, you would have seen that there was no support for Aggie’s position generalizing British Israelism and racism but rather some opposition.

Just to be clear, I find BI a big steaming pile of bovine excrement whether or not it can be characterized as racist.
