I was in the church since young teen, married in the church, had children. The changes came. I became liberal, he became even more Armstrong...restudying all his literature and recommitting to all the Armstrong teachings. I gave him unconditional love. He became even more controlling, domineering, insisting I "keep the sabbath" because I was "part of the household", etc. I ended up leaving. Best thing I ever did. But, by that time the children were old enough to be on their own. Should have left earlier. Anyway, just my experience. My heart goes out to you, Graham.

It takes two to make a marriage, and only one to break it. Generically good advice, but: According to Graham, his wife is insisting that he convert. And that's a bit too much commitment to expect in a marriage.

Graham, I was a second generationer when I married a non member back in the 70's. My spouse never had an opinion about the WCG, and even attended with me once in awhile. It took alot of years, but I did come to my senses eventually. I think your emphasis should be on your children and marriage, even if you have to swallow hard and bite your tongue ALOT. You do NOT have to compromise your beliefs, but if you can try to keep the peace for awhile, I truly believe that your wife will see your faith and love just in your actions. Everyone wants to have a spouse that believes the same thing as you do, but there are plenty of happy "mixed" religious marriages. Evolution not revolution. Take a breather and let us all pray in your behalf. We have all had miracles, maybe you are due yours. Have faith.

Hi J: not off base at all. To be honest, I haven't been on here much because hubbie and I are at the brink. He put up with me all through this Ron bullshit, now on the other side - well, things change.

Hopefully will get sorted.

Graham - I am truly sorry. I see that your wife is totally engrained in this cult - as was I. It is evil, more than evil - words can not describe.

At least I have no kids involved.

I am truly sorry, and wish I could offer some comfort. I am tortured now as it is - things are not good.

Dear All -Thank you for your kind comments and advice ,but my wife will not come out of the cult unless something shows the other pkg members that ron is false -she got her younger sister into the pkg and she is now married and living in texas (coffee cakes )-therefore even if my wife stops believing -she would not desert her sister .
Time will have to sort this out and God willing have a happy ending -not doom and gloom.

That story just hurts, Graham. I am so sorry for the situation you are in. Being of that attitude puts a person in direct conflict with anyone with common sense.

I'm sure Kirrily could sympathize most of all. Based on her story, her husband could have easily have been in that same situation if she had continued in PKG. (BTW Kirrily, I in no way mean to presume what would have happened back then, my apologies if I am off-base)

Graham, it's a tough situation. Relationships are hard enough without false prophets getting involved and gumming up the works. Since I don't have your full story, I don't know how much of the advice could fit your situation. But I think it's clear that people care.
