Hey Mike.. I have been just going around you blog and reading some things I didn't get to read them all. Then I clicked on ochronne, becuase wasn't familiar with the name. I read what you wrote. "
Mike wrote: "I don’t know that it’s accurate to generalize about the intelligence levels of PKG members. Yes, following Ron is a dumb thing to do. So glad I read that part. Since I have been mocked after leaving for having no brain for getting myself in PKG in
the first place.... But at least I opened my eyes and knew something wasn't right with the picture in PKG, Ron or Laura.
So thanks for writing that Mike. You understand we all can be fooled by a wolf in sheep's clothing.

In Australia, it is VERY hard to withdraw your Superannuation (equivalent to 401k in the USA) - you practically have to be dying before they let you make a withdrawal. Even if you need the money because you will go bankrupt without it, it is still nearly impossible.

Hopefully this has saved some Aussies from giving theirs to RW - I think if Wayne could have cashed in his Super, he would have :-(

I wonder if Wayne has got another job?

"Poor Terry" is still buying into Weinland's delusions, and if he happened to read this comment thread would think that we are the deluded ones. Terry has recently been rewarded for his decade-plus of loyalty with elevation to Senior Elder status. He's young enough that it will be at least a decade before he regrets (thinks-differently) about having withdrawn from his 401k to give his old-age security to Ron.

Thanks Mike, it,s interesting how things are done in different countries. Poor Terry (literally now) how sad, looking back though, I have done some stupid things myself but nothing on that scale.

Seems I have a lot of Ephriamites on my blog ;). Kirrily is correct that a 401k is a retirement plan in the USA. Contributions to your fund are not taxed immediately, only withdrawals from the fund are taxed. However, if withdrawals are made before a certain age (usually 59 1/2) there is an additional 10% penalty taken. And withdrawals underage have to be approved.

Terry Wrozek did that several years ago, he's under 55. He talked in a sermon about being counseled by a retirement expert before they'd let him withdraw the money to give to his spiritual idol.

Thanks Kirrily, I've been in cog land a long time, truth is often hard to pin down :-) one hears many things but I often find that what a man says and what he means
by what he says are not always the same thing :-) I,ve asked a couple of times from ministers on this subject but could not get a straight answer, so I thought I'd ask here and maybe someone who has left would like to tell it like it is :-)
On the subject of third tithe, HWA made a judgement around 1972 that if by paying 3rd tithe you put yourself in the position that you required 3rd tithe assistance then you shouldn't pay it but this was often played down by (so called) over zealous ministers.
As for RW asking for your 2nd tithe - amazing, disgusting and totally selfish.
thanks for the info. on 401k

Hey Toby,

I paid 2nd Tithe to PKG - to be fair though, I think they told us to pay a total of 17.5% and save the remainder for ourselves - I am a little grey on this though. I decided to pay the full 20% because I am useless at saving, so thought may as well title the whole 20% - that's why I can't remember the exact percentage they told us to pay, (ie. whether 15% total or 17.5% total - it was one or the other though).

I believe at some point they told us to only pay 10% again, but I can't remember when - and to save the other 10% (2nd tithe) for the 'part feast' in 2008.

3rd Tithe - in PKG they told us no longer need to pay the 3rd tithe (for the poor, widows etc) because our taxes covered this.

I think 401k are a retirement plan for Americans. In Australia, it is called Superannuation. You can only cash your Superannuation (Super as we call it) under strict conditions - not easy to do at all.
